Bailey O'Neil
Bailey O’Neil is an Arrernte and Yankunytjatjara man from Adelaide. His mother is from Oodnadatta and has connections to the APY Lands. Though young, Bailey has already had impressive career as a footballer. Bailey continues to represent Australia in professional matches and shows no signs of slowing.
In 2023, Bailey represented the Australian U16 Schoolboys in the UK and Ireland and was awarded player of the tour. Bailey also played on the Australian U17 men’s national team in the AFC U17 Asian Cup in Thailand, and the Australian U20 men’s national team in Spain, all whilst completing Year 12. Bailey is the first student at his school to be awarded a professional soccer contract whilst still completing high school studies. Bailey received the Keys Award at St Peter’s College, the highest honour the College offers, to recognise his outstanding achievements.
Bailey is recognised as a role model in his community, helping his junior students by volunteering as a coach for his school’s soccer program in his spare time.
Despite his immense success, Bailey has remained active in his community and is an example to all Australian students and sportspeople.
