National NAIDOC Awards nomination form

The National NAIDOC Awards celebrate the outstanding contributions and excellence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across ten award categories, including art, culture, education and training, sport, environment and leadership.

Key Tips

  • Fill out the form entirely ensuring no fields are skipped.
  • You can nominate for more than one award category.
  • You can nominate yourself for an award. If you are nominating someone else for an award, you will need to obtain their signature also. You can either sign digitally, or download the privacy statement and upload a version signed by both you and the nominee.  
  • Nominations will not be accepted for an award category that the nominated person has previously won in the past 10 years. However, they are still eligible to be nominated for other award categories.
  • If you are having issues with this online form, please contact NAIDOCnominations@niaa.gov.au
  • Include any supporting evidence as an attachment using the file upload function. Examples of supporting evidence include: testimonials, photos, resumes, news articles, portfolios, and links to websites to support your nomination.
  • Ensure the selection criteria on page 3 of this form is addressed.
  • There is no word count for your reasons for nominating.

Privacy Statement

The National Indigenous Australians Agency (the NIAA) is committed to protecting the personal information it holds. The Agency will handle personal information you provide in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act).

Collection of personal information

The National NAIDOC Secretariat, as part of the NIAA, is collecting your personal information for the purposes of the 2025 National NAIDOC Awards selection process. 

Use and disclosure of personal information

The NIAA may provide this personal information to the Minister for Indigenous Australians, the National NAIDOC Committee, event organisers, and media. The NIAA also intends to produce publications to promote the 2025 National NAIDOC Award winners.

Providing the requested personal information is voluntary. If you choose not to provide us with your personal information we will be unable to assess your application for the award. Both the person nominating someone for an award, and the nominee, must agree to the personal information contained in the nomination form being provided to, and used, by the NIAA, for the purposes outlined in this Privacy Statement. 

The personal and sensitive information contained in the nomination from includes:

  • The nominator’s name, organisation (if applicable), contact number, email address and location (suburb and state),
  • The nominee’s name, contact number, email address and location (suburb and state), and
  • Confirmation the nominee is of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander descent, identifies as Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander, and/ or is accepted as Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander by the Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander community.

The NIAA will not provide the personal information collected from you to anyone else outside the NIAA, other than specified above, unless you have given consent for us to do this, or we are authorised or required to do so by law. The privacy and security of your personal information is important to us, and is protected by law. The NIAA’s Privacy Policy explains how the NIAA handles and protects the information provided by you.

Consent to use and disclose personal information under the Privacy Act

I consent to the NIAA collecting this personal information and it being used and disclosed in whole or part for the following purposes:

  • to conduct the 2025 National NAIDOC Award process;
  • to provide to the Minister for Indigenous Australians, the National NAIDOC Committee, the organisers of the 2025 National NAIDOC Week awards, and the media to select, announce, and promote the 2025 National NAIDOC Awards.
