The theme for NAIDOC Week in 2024 is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud, and this year the Wiluna Remote Community School and Shire of Wiluna are proud to be celebrating in partnership. At 9.00am on Thursday 27 June with school students participating in a parade from the School to the Shire and back, followed by a School Assembly. From 11.00am – 12.30pm, the School will hold a variety of fun activities and unveil a NAIDOC 2024 mural that the students and teachers have all played a part in creating. The day will finish up with a community cook-up at the School from about 12.30pm.
On Friday 28 June, the West Coast Eagles Goldfields Community Team will host a football round-robin carnival for the children at the Wiluna Oval, commencing at 10.30am. This will also wind-up with a cook-up at 12.30pm.
This event also celebrates our exciting news that the Wiluna Remote Community School has been awarded excellence awards in two categories at the Australian Education Award: in the Prime Super Regional School of the Year category, as well as the Ideagen Best First Nations Education Program. This is an achievement we take tremendous pride in, and we would love you to meet our inspiring teachers and bright young students. We can guarantee they will stoke your hope and vision for our future.
