An ambitious project to create a library of 500 books in five years with all stories written by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people for their children, with all e-books free to access. We know the importance of having role models who share country, culture, values and strong community connections, that make positive impacts on children. And children’s books are the same. We are much more likely to engage with a story if the characters reflect our lived experiences. This is what the Our Yarning collection is aiming to achieve, books for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kids that celebrate and share their lives and stories.
